Things To DoWaiheke Sculpture on the Gulf – a world-renowned art & nature experience

March 10, 2022by Jun Maruta0

4 – 27 March 2022. A much-loved, world-renowned experience awaits. Perpetual Guardian Sculpture on the Gulf returns to Waiheke Island.

The team at Waiheke Wings was lucky enough to join the event’s opening, exploring along a stunning two-kilometre coastal walkway, looking at 31 New sculptures by New Zealand artists. It was a perfect place to walk, talk and take our time to connect and reflect with site-responsive Sculpture.

A gentle autumn sunset added an extra atmosphere to our outing, and it was just the right temperature for the four of us to wander around.

The last two years have been very difficult for many industries. The team at Sculpture on the Gulf and the artists involved fortunately kept their momentum going, and have managed to put on this exciting event despite all the uncertainty surrounding it. We are fortunate they are able to showcase some of what Waiheke Island has to offer.

If you are thinking about doing something different this autumn, how about the idea of “flying in” to Waiheke Island? We offer a package bespoke for this event which includes everything you need to enjoy a day on the island and still have time to do retail therapy in Oneroa village. Visit world-class vineyards and soak up magnificent island experiences.

Sculpture on the Gulf – Fly from Ardmore or North Shore airport to Waiheke Island

And return on a 35-minute Fullers360 ferry ride from downtown Auckland; it’s an opportunity to grab ‘your people’ and plan your Artscape because Waiheke Island is calling!
